8. Use your Head and Common Sense

08/26/2009

For about five years I patrolled a 1000-acre preserve. My Common Scents were accentuated by the smells of rural West Virginia – a truly beautiful, laid-back, peaceful place. While I met my type of local folk -- the deer, bear, turkeys, turtles, red efts, raccoons, flying squirrel, grouse, snakes (didn’t like these), bobcats, etc. – Master and charming wife became friends and blended in with the native West Virginians and the few homeowners who permanently stayed on the Preserve year-round. Our mistake was to believe we could always enjoy the friendliness of the local community. Well, let me clarify. With a quick sniff I could identify the “real” local folk and their values from the “Weenie” folk (Weenie = Weekend entity) and their agendas who built ridiculously over-priced second homes (“cabinette” to one of them) to satisfy their new green environment horns. A subset of the Weenies were the “Wieners”, weekend environmentalists. Year 6 began the influx of the liberal activist Wieners, the rote-learned city people who just had to impose their new book knowledge onto the local folk. It was time for “reeducation” (Dai Sijie wrote about reeducation in his book “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress”) of the local folk – their values were no longer in synch with the new world. It was no longer permissible to have an outdoor light on at night because of light pollution (Ha – 40 lots maximum and only 20 houses built to date on the Allegheny Front was going to be devastating to the black skies above the Appalachians), the heavy secure gate to the Preserve would need to be electric so they wouldn’t have to get out of their cars to enter and leave the Preserve (do you really think they utilized the 15+ miles of hiking paths available to them), the Japanese Stilt Grass would have to be eradicated because it already covered about 1-2 hundredths of the Preserve property and the surrounding properties (seeds spread by winds, birds, animals, and streams not controlled by the Weiner’s Home Owner’s Association members), the proposed windmill construction on the other side of the mountain must be fought (so the Wiener government energy lobbyist lobbied against clean energy here) because it might lower their expensive properties to just 10x the native local folk properties, and they would rather have their children encounter a wounded buck or bear than to allow a local hunter to come onto the property to mercifully take the animal out of its miseries. Wow, what Common Sense – certainly not my Common Scents. The list goes on and on, and the liberal activists, the Weenies and Weiners, continue to stir up a stink Not my headache any more – Master moved us back to the friendliness state he has lived in. Out of seven states and at least another 15 visited, Texas is clearly the winner. My only point of this blog is that The Left animal worshipers again showed their total disregard to the values of others. The others may not have had the specific book the Weenie was reading, but, guaranteed, they did have far more Experience, Wisdom, Compassion, and Common Sense. It seems the let’s-just-rush-in-and-take-over-while-they’re-asleep movement has made major progress the last several years. Do keep an eye out and speak up for your rights. Your values need to be Preserved.
