42. Follow the Seniors - They'll Work For Their Country
I just overheard that the administration just recently said that unemployment insurance compensation will be extended another 13 weeks in some 26 states once Congress passes the bill. I find it interesting that the national unemployment is 9.7 percent, yet the seniors seem to be able to not only find work, but even acquire the necessary job requirements through additional training to land jobs and lower their unemployment. You can read the details here . In summary, the number of senior 75 and older now employed is 33% higher than last August; whereas, 55 and older seniors have increase 69% since last August. Want more recent statistics? The unemployment rate for 55 and over seniors in July was 7.1%, but only 6.7% in August . Does this tell you something? Honorable seniors, known to work at whatever they can find to get over the hard times will! They need no incentive to work. But, Uncle Sam, do continue to spend their tax dollars and our tax dollars to provide more disincentives to those we know have far inferior discipline than the wise elderly folk. Next time you might want to incentivize them for TAKING a job in 2 months instead of continuing to pay them for NOT taking a job. If the seniors can find work, everybody can. Please note, it's the seniors who have an age disadvantage!
